Teachings of Jesus - The Parable of the Good Samaritan!
In this engaging lesson, students read and interpret ‘The Parable of the Good Samaritan.’
The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey:
-Knowledge recall - remembering key facts about Jesus’ life and teaching;
-Defining the meaning of the word ‘Samaritan’ and gaining a basic understanding of the historical relationship between Jews and Samaritans;
-Reading and interpreting the parable through comprehension questions, and deciphering its key meanings;
-Considering the messages that they can take for their own lives from this parable;
-Researching how some charities have continued in the spirit of this parable today;
-Self-reflecting on the extent to which they feel they have met the learning objective.

In the past, I have used this lesson with children from across Key Stage 2 with minor adaptations for age - the key learning is aligned with curriculum expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. All images are licensed for commercial use.
KS2 Descriptive Writing Example Texts! (WAGOLLs)
This original, imaginative and purposeful range of WAGOLL (what a good one looks like) texts have been created to provide model examples of effective descriptive writing.
There are eight original example texts in total, modelling good practice for a varied range of descriptive activities. They include:

The Congo Rainforest - Physical Geography Lesson!
This interesting and highly-stimulating lesson enables students to describe and understand the key physical geography features of The Congo Rainforest. Whilst gaining a wide range of knowledge about the biome, key facts, climate, plants and animals of area, students also become familiar with a wide range of vocabulary pertinent to the KS2 geography curriculum.
The lesson follows a clear, logical, bite-size learning journey, which guides students towards relevant and constructive learning objectives. Over the course of this journey, they become able to:
-Remember key facts about the African continent to contextualise their learning;
-Learn where the Congo rainforest is, and understand why this biome exists here;
-Learn key facts about the area, rivers, animals and plants of the Congo;
-Remembering further facts through watching an interesting video on the Congo, and then answering comprehension questions;
-Self-assess their progress using the learning objectives.
The lesson benefits from access to atlases and/or web-searching devices for the final task.

Out of the Blue Comprehension Activities Booklet!
This 16-page resource booklet contains a wide range of age-appropriate, engaging, and meaningful comprehension activities for use throughout the reading of Simon Armitage’s 9/11 poem ‘Out of the Blue.’ Teachers have found them particularly useful throughout teaching, or for exam revision or guided reading sessions. They are perfect for aiding the progress of students towards meeting the key English Literature assessment objectives - suitable for all examining bodies. Students have found these resources extremely engaging, and it is clearly highlighted within each task regarding which assessment strands the task is designed to demonstrate.

Egypt - Exploring Human and Physical Geography Lesson!

Loki - A Bad God's Guide to Being Good - Whole Class Reading Session!
This whole class reading session aims to develop children’s comprehension skills through a reading of the opening chapter of Louie Stowell’s ‘Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Being Good.’
The resource pack includes the extract and all of the activities for the session, which the class are guided through via a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation. The reading is followed by a series of activities aiming to develop children’s retrieval, explanation, inference, prediction and summarising skills. It also contains a vocabulary check immediately after the extract is read to clarify any unfamiliar/ difficult language.
The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities.
The session is best suited for children in KS2. The session is also suitable for home/ remote learning. The extract is provided as a PDF, and a link to the online version is also included on the first slide.
Pupil Progress Performance Grids
For use alongside data captures and discussions about pupil progress, this succinct performance grid enables observers to gauge and categorise department and individual teacher approaches to pupil progress data, using OFSTED guidance. The first page of the document provides descriptors of 'outstanding', 'good', 'requires improvement' and 'inadequate' feedback within appropriately considered focus areas, for example: Rate of Progress, Accuracy, Noticing Trends and Plotting Interventions, etc. Schools that already employ this tool often opt to highlight the descriptors on this page as they complete the scrutiny, thus creating a bigger picture of the strengths and areas for improvement observed. This can also be a helpful aid in arriving at an overall judgement, should your school opt to arrive at one. The second page allows observers to further pinpoint and describe the 'www' (what went well) and 'ebi' (even better if) aspects of the feedback, to aid teacher/department in improving their practice.
